The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham announced December 10th that it has awarded a grant to Fair Haven to assist in the construction of a new Specialty Care Assisted Living Wing.

Fair Haven, celebrating its fortieth year of service to the community, is presently reconfiguring a second-floor wing, facing Montclair Road. The new Specialty Care Assisted Living Wing, when completed, will provide specialty care for residents with mild to moderate dementia. Separate dining facilties and a secure access environment are important features of this new level of care.

"We are delighted and grateful that the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has selected Fair Haven for this important gift," said A. Wray Tomlin, President and CEO of Methodist Homes for the Aging. "Fair Haven continues to be a leader in providing care for God's Older Children. The new Specialty Care Wing will be important to both residents and their families as we seek to provide a continuum of care for God's Older Children."

Construction of the new wing, already underway, is expected to be completed in early 2002.
